What is a website? Why is a website?

Well… it’s what you do, right?

Honestly, I should have been documenting my journey already. Not doing it earlier was a big mistake. Astro feels like the natural evolution from plain HTML + CSS + Tailwind — without falling into the traps of WordPress (shudder) or Jekyll. It’s fast, Intuitive, and genuinely fun to use. Plus there is still something special about having your own space on the web and it’s been a while since I’ve had a website of my own.

What about social media?

Social media definitely has its place, and the fediverse and such are kinda cool I guess, but not for me. I still use it some, but I don’t want/need anymore. Plus it’s not the same as having your own digital home with a website. You don’t truly own anything you post there:

  • Your content can be deleted tomorrow
  • Your reach is controlled by an algorithm that changes every week
  • Even the way your posts look isn’t up to you

All at the mercy of changing policies and algorithms. Not to mention political agendas, being censored, all that fun stuff.

Why this site could matter

Another big reason I want to document some of my notes and projects and publicly is there have been a lot of times, when a simple personal website and blog like this from a random person has answered my question.

Plus having a place to look back on your growth is cool too. And I hope that with my blog I can share some interesting things I’ve learned along the way.

So yeah - that’s why I’m building this site. I have complete control over how I present my work and ideas. No mysterious algorithms deciding what gets seen, no sudden platform or account death. Just a straightforward space where I can:

  • Showcase my projects
  • Ramble on and get better at writing
  • Share my cybersecurity and coding journey!

Hope you stick around, frens!
